Big Girls Don't Cry...

Today I had a sub for just a few hours in the am. I arrived back at school about 12:20ish. This happens to be the same time on the clock that my children arrive back in the classroom from their afternoon recess. As I drove into the parking lot, I noticed that the rain was coming down...or as my children would say this week "It is extreme rain!" (extreme is one of our vocab words this week! I get so proud when they use it correctly!) I tried to sneek a peek at the playground to see if they were out...I didn't see anyone thank goodness!! Dry kids for the rest of the afternoon!

I walked into my classroom, to find this:
Children Crying Pictures, Images and Photos
(add a little rain to them)
Too bad I am SOOO not kidding!

They were bawling hysterically! I thought it was a joke at first because it was "fake". I looked at my sub who happens to be a friend of mine...and we exchanged "the look".

My children were caught in the downpour, BUT weren't smart enough to go under the cover once it started. Some were, others didn't get that many brain cells apparently. There were sightings of children actually standing under the edge of the cover just so they could get rain to fall right on them...

I so have NO patience for crapolla like that...it's fine if they come in like nothing is the matter...but when they are crying and carrying on all afternoon is get a little crazy! We will be having a LONG talk about recess decisions tomorrow =)

Hope ya'll had a great day!

It's (ANOTHER) girl!!!!

I wasn't sure if I mentioned that I have THREE cousins pregnant. 2 have been getting lots of coverage...but the third is a few weeks behind them and I don't see her as often.
Anyway, as of yesterday...we are adding 4 girls to the family!!! What the heck?!?!!? No boys?

Mrs. Jensen is scared her next U/S will say boy...she is a loon!!!

I can't wait to love on my babies!!! Have you I told you that already?!!??!

Stop whining...

So you all need to stop whining because I haven't blogged in a few days...I can't just blog about NOTHING!!! I mean you don't want to keep hearing about The Boy or silliness like that do you?!?!?!

OH! You do?!?!

Last Tuesday when I got into my classroom (I am a teacher for those of you that don't know...haha) there was a present of sorts sitting on my desk. Now...I LOVE presents...infact if you have read my 100 things about me post, you will know that my love language if gift giving.

So back to my story...(I tend to get off topic a lot!)

There is a shirt sitting on my desk...it is this one...(this pic is NOT me)

You won't find this cute/funny or the least bit amusing if you don't know The Boys name...=)

I heart this shirt...and I heart Shuggie for getting it for me!!!!

Love ya all!!!

Parents...

As you see from the post prior to this one...I am feeling some "pinches" from parents. It's like they are pinching me...not horrible things but things that still hurt...and me being the worrier I am...they BOTHER ME!!! But then again...I laugh at them too...

The other day there were a few notes/phone calls home to parents for some wrestling/rough housing/ acting like typical boys (I am told) on the playground. This was not the first and won't be the last of many battles between two certain male types in my classroom. They are both SUPER small, and both from the same Kindergarten (not mine!).

I have pulled out EVERY stop I can think of to keep them apart...including bribery...that works and is one of my finest tricks. THIS TIME...IT DID NOT WORK! You can't keep two boys away from each other on the playground. I am sure they have magnets on them.

So I call home to E's mom to let her know that we have had some long talks about keeping hands to self, etc. and if she could talk with him at home that would be great...I had to leave a message.

She emailed me back the next day...can I tell you how much I heart email? I HATE talking on the phone to parents more than ANYTHING in this world (okay maybe eating onions) so email suits me to a T! But I have to call most of the time because it is more professional or something like that...

Her email reads as follows:

Dear Miss MegPie,

Thank you for letting me know. E is now grounded for two weeks. (TWO WEEKS! Holy crap he didn't beat anyone up or steal anything! He was acting like a boy!!! Are you going to hang him by his toes also?) I have a suggestion for you. Did you ever think about keeping E and N away from each other? (NO CRAP! I never thought of that lady! I wondered why I paid so much for a masters degree! DANG! Thanks for the great advice!)

Have a great day! (oh yeah just peachy!)

E's mother

Answering Machine...Is this Mine?!?!?!

This is the message that the Maroochydore High School Queensland, staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine . This is the actual answering machine message for the school. This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes. The outgoing message: Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of your school. In order to assist you in connecting to the right staff member, please listen to all the options before making a selection:

To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1

To make excuses for why your child did not do his work - Press 2

To complain about what we do - Press 3

To swear at staff members - Press 4

To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several flyers mailed to you - Press 5

If you want us to raise your child - Press 6

If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7

To request another teacher, for the third time this year - Press 8

To complain about bus transportation - Press 9

To complain about school lunches - Press 0

If you realize this is the real world and your child must be Accountable and Responsible for his/her own behavior, class work, homework and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a nice day!

As long as we are remembered...

I had grief group last night.
I love that place...but last night I hated it.
I hated it because I sat there looking at those sad people...thinking I didn't want to ever be one of "those" people...wait...I AM ONE of "those" people.
In my group, I think I am the most "removed" from my death...to me meaning that I am the one who's said death happened the longest ago. Mine is 8 years...some are as little as two months. We are a large range. I am there for different reasons that some of the others, but then again...we are all there for the same reasons too. I don't look at myself as a "tragedy case". There is always someone worse off. I have had two immediate family member deaths and my fair share of extended family as well. I have grown from them, learned from them, and now embrace them. They have made me who I am today...still causing some weakness though. I wouldn't trade my deaths for anything of the things I just mentioned...but it is what it is...this is what I have been handed...and I CAN HANDLE IT! I think...
I like to go to know I am not alone...

Last night I had a reality...I mean I have definitely thought about this before...but last night it head me in the face...HARD.
One of my fellow grievers is a widow now. His precious wife passed away. He is so young and she was so young. I can't imagine loving someone so much and then their lives being taken away in a split second. I do not want to be him...but I don't know what the future holds. I have faith it will treat me well...afterall, I have had my share plus some! THE ONLY thing I can do about this...is live life to the fullest. Tell everyone how much they mean to me anytime I can.

I found this quote that goes perfectly with this post.
"We live as long as we are remembered..."

The Way I See It...#11

This morning Teacha and I stopped at Starbucks on our way to "the training". Boy is it a good training too! (sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm)
I am sitting in it as I write this...perhaps I am not being a "good student" today.

Anyway, my drink is finished and sometimes I like to read my cup...you know "The Way I See It's" they have on those cups?

Mine stood out for me today...

"Why are we inspired by another person's courage?
Maybe because it gives us the sweet and genuine
surprise of discovering some trace, at least, of the
same courage in ourselves." ~The Way I See It # 11, Laurence Shames

I love that...

I heart Field Trips!!! SIKE!

Thursday called for a field trip...our first of the year to be exact.
My ONLY experience with field trips have been in Kindergarten. Kindergarten Field Trips= BIGGEST NIGHTMARE OF MY LIFE!
I always took two classes...TOO many parents...AND didn't have enough patience! My last Kindy field trip involved a a cop, 2 buses for 6 classes (if you do the math we needed about 4 buses!) a lost kid we fondly named Little Richard (btw had no idea he was lost!), a kid hiding in the bushes, me in tears, a puker, and a tantrum thrower (like on the ground screaming and kicking)...that is pure awesomeness people!!!!

First grade field trip=MUCH better...more calm....less parents.

Yesterday, we attended a play downtown. We took a school bus down, saw a play, got right back on the bus and back to our place of education. Pretty simple day. I can't complain...although I have a top ten list of things I have to share about it...

Top Ten Things I Loved about Yesterdays Real World Education:

1. Kids crying because they are going to wet their pants
2. Extremely nauseas children on the bus ride
3. Parents also a little nauseas from the bus ride
4. Ushers that don't like children...or adults for that matter!
5. There's nothing like the smell of 500 kids that have gas! They have no manners!
6. The show involves the kids clapping to music...UGH! I hate that! The kids have no idea when to stop!
And they have no rhythm!
7. Duffel bag I have to carry full of medications: from EpiPens, to Benadryl, to inhalers, to bandaids.
8. Counting your children 100 times an hour to make sure you didn't lose any.
9. Having to just sit in the bus with 50 kids for 20 minutes because we are too early!
10. KIDS FALL ASLEEP ON THE BUS ON THE WAY HOME!

Happy Weekend!

Oh yeah..Sunday I get to go to DQ's Birthday! Yeah!!!!

4 more days!

4 days till I get to love on my bebes'!!!!!

Chicken Soup...at the grocery store

I was in line at the grocery story this afternoon. I was extremely tired, and kind of "out of it" probably staring off into space. I chose a bad line to get into, but really what else is new?

As I stood there I saw someone kind of flag me down from another aisle. He wanted me to cut him because I didn't have a cart and he did so he wanted me to be able to put my stuff down.
How incredibly nice of him. I KNOW he doesn't read my blog...but I want YOU all to know I will pay it forward....and HECK...his kid could be in my class next year! =)

Thank you shopping cart man!
